We are looking forward to the 29th Hungerford Victorian Extravaganza on Friday 10 December!
Festivities will kick off at 5pm with the parade at 7:30pm and fireworks at 8.30pm. Entry is free.
One of the highlight of Berkshire’s festive calendar is the Hungerford Extravaganza, now in it’s 29th year. Join us on Friday 10 December from 5pm for a Christmas street fair of stalls, steam engines, festive food and drinks, big wheel and fairground rides and games for the little ones. The parade will start at 7:30pm from the A4 end of the High Street and fireworks can be viewed from Canal Bridge at 8.30pm.
Hungerford Christmas Lights are considered by many to be the best in the south of England, adding a sprinkle of fairy dust onto this well-loved market town, and this is a wonderful night to enjoy them.
For some late night Christmas Shopping don’t miss the famous Hungerford Arcade, Hungerford Bookshop’s popular children’s section with experienced booksellers on hand to give out advice and mince pies, mulled wine at The Naked Grape wine merchants. Also the Hungerford Hub & Library will have a pop-up Christmas shop open until 7pm.
The Extravaganza Parade at 7.30pm will feature the Reading Scottish Pipe Band, Rock Choir, Father Christmas on his Magical Wheels, Mr Snowman, Mrs Polar Bear, Mr Reindeer, Hungerford Churches Together, Community of Hungerford Theatre Group and Hungerford Lanterns.
Due to the popularity of the lanterns last year there will again be Lantern-Making Workshops for anyone who would like to carry a lantern in the parade 10am – 4pm on Saturday 27 November and at The Croft Field Centre, Hungerford RG17 0HY. No booking necessary just drop in. Cost is £3 donation per lantern for materials.
The event is organised by Hungerford Chamber of Commerce and made possible by kind support from Greenham Trust, Hungerford Town Council and many local businesses.
If any local charities would like a stall please contact Derek Loft at email@example.com
